SIA Brisbane - August OHS Seminar

The Safety Institute of Australia's Brisbane Network cordially invites SIA Members and Non Members to join us for our next OHS / WHS professional development event which will be held on Thursday 17 August 2017.

This event will feature a presentation by Bill Martin who is a Workplace Health and Safety Queensland safety advocate. This presentation will encourage workers to make electrical and workplace safety a priority, and to highlight the personal impacts that an accident can have on workers and their families.

Prior to our presentations, we invite attendees to participate in the Round Table discussion which will provide the opportunity to talk with SIA members and non-members, to explore WHS issues, share experiences and management. Sign-up for Round Table topics during registration.

Program

1. Round Table

Our round table discussions provide the opportunity to talk with SIA members and non-members, to explore WHS issues, share experiences and management. Sign-up for round table topics during registration.

2. Keynote Presentation  - Bill Martin – WHSQ Safety Advocate

Bill is a Workplace Health and Safety Queensland safety advocate. His son, Tim, died at the age of 17 after he received an electric shock at work. Bill now visits Queensland businesses as a safety advocate, to encourage workers to make electrical and workplace safety a priority, and to highlight the personal impacts that an accident can have on workers and their families. Bill shares his tragic story to inspire people to lead in safety culture and to better understand the unique safety requirements of young workers.

3. Presentation - Peter Yates, Operations Manager WHSQ - Briefing

Peter will provide an overview of health and safety in Brisbane, along with a broad look at where we are as a State since our Act & Regulations were introduced in 2012.

4. SIA Update and Q&A
Peter Lupschen, Jo Kitney & Tim Gilchrist will provide an update on the SIA and answer questions.
